There’s no stopping the Jonas Brothers! Just two weeks after debuting their Disney flick Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert, the talented trio of siblings unveiled dates for an upcoming world tour. Nick, Kevin and Joe will play a handful of shows in South America in mid-May before traveling to the U.K. and Europe for a string of performances in early June. Produced by Live Nation and presented by Burger King, the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 will then hit North America for a run of concerts. The 44-date North American leg of the siblings’ tour kicks off June 20 at the Dallas Cowboys’ new stadium in their current Texas hometown and ends August 31 at the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.
The tour is in support of the trio’s most recent studio album, A Little Bit Longer, which topped the Billboard 200 chart upon its debut last August. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the Hollywood Records release has sold 1.49 million copies. The last time the Jo Bros were on tour was in the summer of 2008, during which their 43-show run grossed $30.2 million and attracted over 697,000 concertgoers. If the saying that numbers don’t lie really is true, check online for Jonas Brothers tickets to secure your seats before they sell out.
Long since hailed the Hanson brothers of the new millennium, the Jonas Brothers began carving their own pop career in the early 2000s. The band of brothers was raised in New Jersey, with youngest brother Nick getting his foot in the show business door when he was just seven with a stint on Broadway. Record execs at Columbia Records approached Nick about recording a solo album and he enlisted older brothers Joe and Kevin to help him write material. Eventually they were signed as a trio in 2005 and their debut album It’s About Time was released in August 2006. The album peaked at number 91 on the Billboard charts and found a home on Radio Disney. Columbia dropped the group (big mistake!), but Disney was waiting in the wings to snatch up the Jonas Brothers, releasing their eponymous sophomore album in August 2007.
After appearing on various Disney Channel programs and selling out shows across the nation (including the fastest sold-out show at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles,) the Jonas Brothers launched their own reality television show called Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream. The Disney made-for-TV movie Camp Rock followed and attracted no less than 8.9 million viewers. Despite their small and big screen success the Jonas Brothers returned to music in 2008 with A Little Bit Longer, which was led by popular single “Burnin’ Up.” Get your Jonas Brothers tickets to see them live when they stop in your city in support of their latest album. American Idol season six winner Jordin Sparks and preppy rockers Honor Society will support the trio on their world tour. The brothers posted a video announcing their impending tour on their MySpace page, with Nick telling fans, “New tour, everything’s new, and we’re so excited to have you check it out.”
